Karen Elizabeth Urlie soprano

Karen Elizabeth Urlie , soprano,  is seen on opera, concert and recital stages across the Pacific Northwest. She has been a featured soloist with the Baroque Northwest Quartet, Northwest Sinfonietta, the Bellevue Chamber Chorus, Ensemble Electra, The Classical Consort, the Sacred Music Chorale, Kitsap Opera, Livermore Valley Opera, Rainier Lyric Opera, Bellevue Opera, Hans Wolf’s Community Productions, and the Seattle Opera Guild Previews. She has also been a member of the Seattle Opera Chorus since 1999. 


Recently, Karen has been a frequent soloist on the Gallery Concerts series, in Seattle, on such programs as Mr. Haydn Comes to London, A Classical Christmas, and A Baroque Christmas. She worked with Adam Guettel, Tony Award winning composer, on a recording of his original work for the production of Uncle Vanya at the Intiman Theater; and last December, appeared with the Skagit Symphony as the soprano soloist in Handel's Messiah. Upcoming performances include the soprano soloist in Bach's Easter Oratorio with Orchestra Seattle and the Seattle Chamber Singers. Also an avid recitalist, Karen draws upon repertoire that ranges from Purcell and Mozart, to Wolf and Strauss, Rodrigo and Barber.


Karen is a former winner of the Seattle Ladies Musical Club Awards/Tour Competition, a finalist in the Sun Valley Opera Vocal Competition, and the N.A.T.S. Western Washington District Vocal Competition.
